Miyarrka Media return to New York

Miyarrka Media has once again been selected to show their work in New York for the 2014 Margaret Mead Film Festival. Miyarrka’s recent installation ‘Gapuwiyak Calling’ which premiered at the University of Queensland Anthropology Museum in March this year, will be installed and exhibited as part of the  annual Film Festival held at the American Museum of Natural History, New York.

Miyarrka in Denmark

Miyarrka Media have been invited to exhibit ‘Christmas Birrimbirr (in Christmas Spirit)’ at the New Moesgaard Museum in Denmark.

This will be the first time Christmas Birrimbirr has been exhibited outside of Australia since it was first shown at the Chan Contemporary Art Space in Darwin 2011.

Members of Miyarrka media will travel to Denmark for the international exhibition and Grand opening of the new museum on the 11th Oct 2014.

Miyarrka in Paris

Miyarrka Media are in Paris for the 31st Jean Rouch International Ethnographic Film Festival. Please join us for the screening of ‘Manapanmirr, in Christmas Spirit’, on Monday 12th at 3.00pm. A discussion panel will follow the screening, Miyarrka Media will be joined by Barbara Glowczewski, Director of Research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris. And Jessica de Largy Healy, independent curator and researcher.

2012 Margaret Mead Filmmakers Award

Miyarrka Media is excited to announce the inclusion of Manapanmirr, in Christmas Spirit, in the selection for the 2012 Margaret Mead Filmmakers Award.

Manapanmirr is a 61min feature documentary film adapted from the larger three channel installation work ‘Christmas Birrimbirr (Christmas Spirit). The documentary version was originally created to increase circulation and distribution of the story and the work of Miyarrka Media. So far the film has travelled to Film Festivals in Germany, Russia, and Norway.

Manapanmirr will also be screening at the Jean Rouch Film Festival in Paris on November 2nd. Join us there for a discussion with the Miyarrka crew.
